Powdery snow in winter – warm rock face in summer. To remain safe on our favorite playgrounds, we require plenty of knowledge. It’s the only way to reduce the risk of accidents. In our alpine summer courses you learn rock climbing from scratch. In our intensive courses, our professional mountain guides will teach you the art of tour planning, knots, securing techniques, belaying and abseiling. With its avalanche courses, the SAFETY ACADEMY has for years been considered one of the world's largest training initiatives in the field of mountain sports. For the summer, the offer is now further expanded. In order to impart relevant knowledge about climbing, we rely on our cooperation with around 35 mountaineering schools and offer climbing courses for beginners and advanced climbers as part of our SAFETY ACADEMY. Take advantage of this training and reduce the risk! This is the only way to avoid emergency situations. Goals of the climbing courses: Safety and routine for the first independently performed climbing routes (Climbing Basic) or building up for multi-pitch routes (Pläsier) on the rock (Climbing Advanced) or in the classic alpine terrain (Alpine Climbing).

SAFETY ACADEMY Climbing Basic
From the climbing gym to the rock face
Have you always wanted to climb outside on a real rock face? The SAFETY ACADEMY CLIMBING BASIC course gives you the chance to try it out! You will spend a day on rock faces in the great outdoors together with a state-certified mountain guide. This is the ideal climbing course for those getting back into climbing and experienced indoor climbers. We’ll ensure an effortless transition from the climbing gym to the rock face. We’ll teach you all the belaying techniques you’ll need to climb outside on your own. You’ll learn a lot of useful tips to ensure you have lots of fun and gain the necessary confidence when you start out on the rock. The course focuses on material theory, the correct way to clean sport anchors, differences from indoor climbing, and climbing technique. Along with the important training topics, there will of course also be plenty of outdoor climbing on the rock face.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Basic knowledge of wall climbing or sport climbing (for those getting back into climbing), mastery of the techniques for belaying in lead climbing, sure lead climbing on climbing walls up to level 5 or harder. You should be fit enough for 0.5–1 hour of climbing.
COURSE GOALS: Independent climbing in a climbing park and mastery of the relevant belay technique
COURSE CONTENT: Material theory, knot techniques, correct use of quickdraws, rope control in lead climbing, belaying in lead climbing – use of belay devices, anchor cleaning for lowering and route cleaning, climbing techniques and tactics, lowering, setting top-rope anchors, aspects of nature-friendly climbing

SAFETY ACADEMY Climbing Advanced
Multi-Pitch-Climbs - Climbing fun rock routes
Are you already climbing at grade 5 in a climbing park and the climbing gym? Want to start climbing routes with several pitches in alpine terrain? In our SAFETY ACADEMY CLIMBING ADVANCED course you’ll learn all the necessary belaying techniques and skills you need to climb your first well-protected multi-pitch routes independently after the course. Over the course of two days we’ll teach you the basics of belaying, rappelling, the necessary rope commands and plenty of alpine expertise which will then allow you to conquer large rock faces.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Confident and independent climbing and belaying in the climbing gym up to grade V. You should have initial experience of climbing in natural rock climbing parks (grade III-IV). You should be able to walk safely in rough terrain and be fit enough for approaches of 1–2 hours
COURSE GOALS: Independent climbing of bolt-protected multi-pitch routes and mastery of the relevant belay techniques; acquiring basic knowledge and skills for climbing simple, well-secured, fun alpine routes.
COURSE CONTENT – THEORY: Theory of knots, materials and belaying, outdoor climbing, introduction to tour planning, specific features of alpine climbing, use of topo guidebooks, alpine dangers, environmental aspects.
COURSE CONTENT – PRACTICAL: Belaying, basic knowledge of safety and knot techniques, rope team procedure for lead and follow climbing, various climbing techniques on alpine rock faces, climbing techniques and tactics, rappelling.

SAFETY ACADEMY Alpine Climbing
Multi-Pitch-Climbs - Climbing Alpine rock routes
Have you already been out on your own in a climbing park? Perhaps you’ve even dared to take your first steps into multi-pitch routes? Have you already completed our Rock Basic course? Ready to move on to real, big walls in the mountains? Then our SAFETY ACADEMY ALPINE ADVANCED course is the perfect stepping stone towards independent alpine climbing!
We’ll build on your basic knowledge from previous courses and your climbing experience and teach you everything you need to know to tackle alpine routes: Orientation on the approach and on the wall, advanced belay techniques and belay station variations, the use of traditional climbing equipment, hazard assessment and risk assessment! You’ll pick up a few tricks of the trade for real alpine climbing from the alpine expertise of our Safety Academy mountain guides!

COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Basic knowledge from CLIMBING ADVANCED or other sport climbing course, mastery of important belaying and knot techniques for multi-pitch routes, experience of lead climbing on well-protected multi-pitch routes (difficulty level III–IV), good fitness (for 1–2 hours of climbing).
COURSE GOALS: Independent climbing of moderate multi-pitch and alpine routes in the mountains that may require the use of traditional climbing equipment.
COURSE CONTENT – THEORY: Theory of knots and belaying, tour planning for multi-pitch climbs, special features of alpine climbing, use of topo guidebooks, material science, alpine dangers, environmental aspects, weather & orientation in the mountains.
COURSE CONTENT – PRACTICAL: Belaying variants, protection techniques at a belay station, orientation on the rock face, use of nuts and camming devices, lead and follow climbing, process of climbing and belaying as a rope team, climbing multi-pitch alpine routes, and rappelling and descent techniques.
DURATION: 3 days
