The PEAK 52 S is a multifunctional high altitude backpack for demanding alpinists with a short back length who are looking for a durable, versatile and comfortable backpack for large and long multi-day tours or mountain expeditions.
Whether sleeping bag, tent, stove, crampons, ice axe, helmet, poles or climbing equipment - on material-intensive high-altitude and, ski tours, the PEAK 52 S proves to be a powerful pack mule that offers a clever stowage option for every piece of equipment. Even under heavy loads, the wide, padded shoulder and hip straps and the close-fitting, full-contact back reinforced with metal braces of the unique Swisswool 3D BACK SYSTEM ensure comfortable carrying and optimum load control. The contact surfaces are lined with Swisswool wool fleece on the back, shoulders and hips, which reliably absorbs water vapor and dries quickly. The PEAK 52 S also scores with a separate safety compartment, numerous attachment options for rope, ice axe, helmet, skis, snowboard and poles, as well as a side crampon compartment. Crafted from 100% and 50% recycled polyamide, the two main outer materials ensure outstanding robustness and durability.
Thus, the PEAK 52 S brings great freedom to the mountain and is a reliable companion for extended multi-day tours in high alpine terrain.

I just used this pack for a two night hut trip in Colorado. I have a shoulder injury and was worried about carrying a heavy pack for 4 miles while skinning up to the hut. It was the most comfortable pack I've ever worn and I never thought about my shoulder injury! I've been backpacking for 50 years and never had a comfortable pack, even with short back lengths. The short "S" back length was perfect for my frame. I am 5'8" with broad shoulders and the length was perfect and shoulder straps conformed nicely. Also loved the conically shaped waist belt which hugged my hips. I used the pack also as a day ski pack and it never felt too voluminous. It of course held all my gear, including a light sleeping bag, clothing, food, safety equipment, and water. I loved the large side zipper that allowed me to access the contents from both the top and bottom of the pack. The frame was supportive, and held up to a heavy load. Only thing I would recommend is to make the top lid removable. It is adjustable and has room to pack items into the spindrift collar, but would of been nice while day skiing to remove. My boyfriend used the Peak 55 and he used the snowboard accessory straps to carry a small day pack. I was a bit jealous and liked the ability to strap items like that onto the outside.
