Extremely lightweight, compact and functional: Our SHOVEL PRO LIGHT is the perfect companion for all ski tourers who want to be lightweight on the go, but place high demands on their equipment!
We have used innovative materials, modern production processes and carefully considered notches in the shovel blade to create a lightweight avalanche shovel that weighs in at only 440g – without compromising on rigidity. For the shaft of the shovel we have used high-quality 7075 T6 aluminum that is both very light and extremely strong. For the blade we used the 6061 T6 aluminum. Thanks to the telescopic, rapid-closure shaft, our lightweight avalanche shovel can be quickly adjusted. And its practical switchover function makes it suitable for both left and right-handers.
The pack-friendly blade on our SHOVEL PRO LIGHT has step grooves to stop your foot slipping when digging. A sharp, sturdy cutting edge guarantees optimum performance. High sidewalls and a pronounced center ridge on the blade provide the necessary rigidity.
Thanks to notches in the material, the SHOVEL PRO LIGHT is not only lighter but also suitable for building a rescue sled or for use as a snow anchor. It is also compatible with the PRO ALU III shaft and fits in all ORTOVOX backpacks.
Our SHOVEL PRO LIGHT is the perfect companion for light sheep on ski tours, because with less weight on his back he can use all of his energy for great adventures in the snow.

I'm not sure about other reviews but this shovel is so compact and lightweight and works just great! I love how packable it is! I'm not sure why Ortovox stopped selling all their PC models. Or at least they seem to always be out of stock. These models are great when you're trying to keep your gear dialed in but still need the essentials! Hopefully they will keep making these telescoping versions of their shovels! Their other shovels are great too but some are double the weight! It all depends on your needs and experience level and where you'll be planning to use. I wasn't expecting a model like some of the other reviews have stated.. but perhaps they already removed that info that wasn't supposed to be on this model. I mainly use this for backcountry ski tours, long distance backcountry hiking and search and Rescue.

I'm on the website trying to work out how the clearing function it lists on the swing tag works. Seems like everyone else has discovered, it isn't a feature unless you buy a different handle - why would you buy a different handle? You may as well just buy the other shovel in the first place. I didn't buy it for a clearing function, but it is a best terrible labeling of the product which is clearly confusing people!

Ich würde an eurer Stelle mal das Produktschild, das an der Schaufel dranhängt, mit den "Instructions to use" individualisieren. So habt ihr immer enttäuschte Kunden, weil es das Feature gar nicht gibt und seid im Erklärungsnotstand.

The shovel is light and good engineered. The only thing I cannot understand is that it advertises a shovel and clearing functions but the clearing function is not applicable for the shovel I got.

I am also confused about the clearing function. As it is in the box (pro light 2.1 with pro light handle), there is no such function. At least stop promoting it on the instruction card. Otherwise it's fine. It's a nicely built, lightweight shovel I guess :D

The perfect shovel! The PRO LIGHT, when used alone, is compact, lightweight, and an effective shovel. It’s ideal when conditions are unlikely to require a shovel but you of course must bring one. What really takes this shovel from great to perfect is the cross compatibility with the PRO ALU III, allowing you to mix and match to dial in the perfect weight and feature combination.

Achtung! Man wirbt im Produktvideo zwar mit der Räumfunktion aber wenn man genau aufpasst benötigt man den Griff eines anderen Modells, bzw. kann dies für unverschämt viel Geld nachkaufen! Ich fühle mich dadurch getäuscht. Sonst als reine Schaufel natürlich ein sehr gutes Produkt.
